A new Research Centre dedicated to advancing sustainable shipping has been launched in Glasgow by the University of Strathclyde in partnership with leading international shipping company Oldendorff Carriers.

The Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Arsenio Dominguez applauded the important commitments made at the United Nations Ocean Conference last week (9-13 June) in Nice, France, while urging countries to deliver on these promises as soon as possible.

Portugal announced on 11 June the creation of a new protected marine area (MPA) around the Gorringe Ridge in the Atlantic Ocean, which includes Western Europe’s tallest seamount.

Twelve European countries declared their commitment to collaborate on the creation of the Mercator International Centre for the Ocean.

MPA Singapore and Firmus Technologies signed to collaborate on the study of sustainable, modular AI factories using seawater for cooling.
