Iran’s naval forces have seized four tankers carrying thousands of liters of smuggled oil in the Persian Gulf.
According to a statement issued on 10 June by the prosecutor of Minab County in Hormozgan Province, the operation was conducted by naval patrol officers with the support of a marine commando unit.
Authorities reported the discovery and confiscation of large quantities of fuel stored both in the vessels and in accompanying containers. Furthermore, it is reported that the seized tankers have since been transferred to the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC).
This latest action follows a similar operation in March, when the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy intercepted two foreign tankers transporting over three million liters of smuggled diesel fuel. All 25 crew members aboard those vessels were detained.
