Twenty-four crew have been rescued by the oil tanker ADALLYN, following a collision with another vessel in the Gulf of Oman.

The International Maritime Rescue Federation (IMRF), in collaboration with the Lloyd’s Register Foundation launched the first-ever Global Maritime Search and Rescue (SAR) Systems Review in order to understand, evaluate and help strengthen maritime SAR systems worldwide.

A collision between a Philippine-flagged tugboat M/TUG Sadong 33 and a Panamanian-flagged vessel MV Universe Kiza occurred near Maasim, Sarangani Province, at around 4:20 AM on March 25, 2025, causing the loss of life of two. 

Missing crew search was called off after 24 hours have passed since the two vessels collided in the North Sea, with both ships still ablaze.

IMO conducted a workshop in Kenya to boost search and rescue capabilities in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden area.
