Paris MoU has published the 2024 Concentrated Inspection Campain (CIC) on Crew Wages and Seafarer Employment Agreements (SEAs) report.

From 1 September to 30 November 2024, the Tokyo MoU carried out a Concentrated Inspection Campaign (CIC), jointly with the Paris MoU, on Crew Wages and Seafarer Employment Agreements. Over the course of the CIC period, involving all types of ships, a total of 8,134 inspections were carried out.

From 1 September 2024 to 30 November 2024, Black Sea MoU carried out a Concentrated Inspection Campaign (CIC) focusing on Crew Wages and Seafarer Employment Agreements in accordance with the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (MLC, 2006).

The Black Sea Region (BS MoU) presents their preliminary results from the Concentrated Inspection Campaign (CIC) on Fire Safety which took place from 1 September 2023 to 30 November 2023. 

During a three-month period, started on 1st September 2019 to 30th November 2019, Paris MoU, along with other MoUs and PSC Authorities, conducted a Concentrated Inspection Campaign, on Emergency Systems. Although, the Paris MoU has not issued any report yet, key findings are available on its Inspection Database which we analyze in this article. During the CIC period, a total number of 4,336 inspections conducted, resulting to 9,968 deficiencies and 134 detentions.

On May 1, 2019, the US Coast Guard concluded a year-long concentrated inspection campaign (CIC), focused on open lifeboats throughout the US commercial fleet as directed in the Commandant’s Final Action Memo on the 2015 sinking of the S.S. El Faro.  US Coast Guard Marine Inspectors identified 68 deficiencies on 35 open lifeboats.

The Paris Memorandum of Understanding on Port State Control (Paris MoU) conducted its 52nd Committee meeting in St. Petersburg, Russian, from 13-17 May 2019. The Committee reviewed the work of the Paris MoU of the last year, also taking into account the declaration of the 3rd Joint Ministerial Conference, and took decisions for the upcoming period.

The Maritime Authorities of the Memorandum of Understanding on Port State Control for West and Central African region (Abuja MoU) carried out a Concentrated Inspection Campaign (CIC) on LifeSaving Appliances from 1 September 2018 to 30 November 2018. 611 Port State inspections were carried out and no ship was detained due to the campaign.  

Tokyo MoU conducted the concentrated inspection campaign (CIC) on MARPOL Annex VI from 1 September 2018 to 30 November 2018. Member Authorities inspected 6,604 vessels, of which 4 (0.06%) were detained, due to the campaign. Overall, 176 (2.14%) ships were detained during the campaign. The highest number of CIC inspections regarding ship type were performed on bulk carriers 2,402 (36.37%).
